Languages students at Coundon Court will have an enthusiastic and engaging learning experience that prioritises the authentic, practical comprehension and use of French and Spanish.

Building Language learners that work hard and try their best is at the core of all that we do.

Our ambitious curriculum aims to enable students at Coundon Court to communicate in the target language. Our curriculum is built around our 14 communicative functions and the core grammatical concepts of French and Spanish.

We aspire to promote an interest in other cultures and to facilitate curiosity and appreciation for cultural nuances that students might not be exposed to if not for their language lessons at Coundon Court. We will emphasise the value and importance of communication skills that extend beyond students’ first language. We aim to provide access to opportunities to build up cultural capital through a range of class activities, cultural events and trips.

Our priorities are:

• To provide students with a culturally authentic and knowledge rich curriculum
• To create increasingly confident communicators with self-esteem and spontaneity through the use of mastery
• To promote language learning as knowledge that can bring people together, particularly in our local community.
