Psychology enables pupils to understand and explain a variety of human behaviour from a variety of perspectives.
Our curriculum embraces the philosophy that developing the whole person is the whole point. It reflects our dedication to hard work, empathy, and intellectual curiosity. Lessons cultivate an environment where students aspire, inquire, reflect, and achieve. Across the topics studied, students gain a deep understanding of human behaviour and mental processes, while honing critical thinking, research, and analytical skills.
By exploring real-world applications and diverse perspectives, our curriculum empowers students to develop self-awareness, resilience, and a nuanced appreciation of the complexities of the human experience, preparing them to excel academically and contribute meaningfully to society. This equips them to confidently navigate competitive markets and ambitious destinations. By the end of their journey, Coundon psychology students are not only academically successful but also compassionate individuals ready to positively contribute to society.

Sociology enables learners to think critically about how society is organised and consider a range of solutions to problematic issues.
Our curriculum reflects the belief that in developing the whole person, we positively develop caring communities and forward thinking society. Through the study of the complex interplay between individuals and society, we nurture enquiring minds who are proud of their ability to think critically, communicate effectively, and explore societal issues with curiosity and empathy. Lessons encourage students to ask challenging questions, fostering a sense of service and social intelligence.
We develop students' cognitive and social-emotional skills, equipping them to excel in an ever-changing world as ambitious, responsible, and compassionate global citizens. By engaging with academic texts, real-world data, and diverse perspectives, students develop analytical, literacy, and oracy skills, as well as creativity and leadership qualities preparing them to confidently engage with third level study and secure ambitious career destinations. Our sociology curriculum not only ensures academic success but also empowers students to make a positive difference in the world and their community, embodying the ‘Coundon Character’ of resilience, kindness, and responsibility.
